  • SNOWKRAUT 2023: How to make sauerkraut in the field at the first snowfall. Just
like what our Ancients did at the end of the season as if their life depended on
it.

I have done this at Ferment Farm #4 on October 5th, 2020, and the first Snow
Krauting at Ferment Farm #3 on Nov 3rd, 2017 (The Great Canadian Kimchi Movie).
Those are still waiting for editing. As well as a bilingual krauting vidio done
in Lima, Peru, on Oc8, 2019. So much great vid content…. Not enough spare time
for editing….

The time clipping the Snowkraut 23 vids was to prep for World Fermie Day 2024
uncrocking of that very same kraut.

valves, spray heads. Water directing strategies, head repairs, and pot farming.

Notes:

 * Watering Brain (clock) is well worth the time and money up front.
 * KISS (Keep It Simple Stupid)
 * Note to self, use water pressure to unclog head. And if sucking head,

Notes:

 * The math: {Water volume + pressure} + {number of heads + length of hoses}

 * In total, I used over 400 ft of 1/2” poly line to cover the same area as 7

  • Ferment Farm Fall addition Success!! About 150 big wet bags of chopped up leafs
n grass clippings mixed deeply into dryish & mucky Glenmore clay. And pathways
measured n dug. And putting back into the Earth (little crazy bean break).

Pathways are better ABOVE the beds… water flows downhill. BUT i can fill
trenches w leafs, create an organic layer for mycelium network to connect under
pathways. Sand or more organics (straw) can be added once leaf pathways break
down.

  • Companion gardening with strawberries and garlic. Harvesting then Remulching.

Notes:

 * New garden: 1bag leafs/ 4 sq ft.
 * Mid summer remulching: 1bag/ 16 sq ft.
 * Make sure to keep the leaf bags covered otherwise they will break down from
   the sun.
 * The garlic bulbils keep over winter.
 * 140 garlics outa a dark corner of the garden. Its a WIN!
 * Interesting year… garlic was so much different. I used the biggest cloves,
   and planted at prefect time for a change. Small bulbils, small heads…. The
   Ferment Farm had big ones. Maybe planting at end of winter makes a
   difference…. The test is on!

  • On garlic… Bulbils (“seeds”). Thats what grows when you dont cut the scape off.
This Red Russian runt was pulled off a large cluster of about 6 others.
Sometimes its OK to not dig one out.

Notes:

 * The math: {Water volume + pressure} + {number of heads + length of hoses}
   divided by 1/2 x 2 the square root of infinity = exactly what was needed.
 * In total, I used over 400 ft of 1/2” poly line to cover the same area as 7

year i should have at least 150 Red Rossiia hard neck garlic bulbs. They may be

and much larger. It can take 5 years from garlic seed to the size we normally
