World Fermie Day
What is World Fermie Day?
World Fermie Day is a day to celebrate the art of fermentation. It is a day to share the love of fermentation with the world.
It is held every year on the first Sunday in September.
This year (2025) it is on September 7th.
What is a fermie?
A person who likes to make fermented foods and beverages such as sourdough bread, water kefir, kombucha and lacto-fermented vegetables. Their favorite books are Nourishing Traditions and Wild Fermentation.
You know a fermie when you go to their house and their kitchen counter is full of jars and crocks full of weird looking stuff.
